As someone who used to spend the majority of the day staring at a screen for work, using
my hands to create something is a breath of fresh air. The more time I spend making
papergoods, the more I realize how much I enjoy working with my hands. It relaxes me and
gives me a break from the tangle of thoughts. So this has re-awakened my forgotten
passion once again.
This also made me wonder about the benefits of slowing down to craft something using my
hands, especially in fast-paced world that sometimes made me more impatient and
demanded myself to keep striving to do as much as possible and as quickly as possible.
From my small research, turned out crafting is increasingly being recognized as a form of
therapy than can be used to combat mental ilness and the daily stresses of life. Crafting
benefits our mental health by distracting us and making us feel happier. As a result we
experience other benefits as well: increased confidence, a sense of relaxation, decreased
anxiety, feeling of accomplishment, increased self-esteem, etc.
Not only can crafting make you happier and less stressed, but it can also help keep your brain healthy as yo age. When you craft,
you need to use memory, attention span, creativity, visual and spatial processing, and problem solving. For me, it is also humbling
me, and make me being more appreciative to others.
As I grow as a person myself, those above are few of many other joyful reasons why I am re-building Krafnya nona. Let’s re-discover
the joyful journey
